Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) for individuals

Formerly known as: Climate action incentive payment (CAIP)

Increase to Canada Carbon Rebate rural supplement

The Government of Canada has increased the CCR rural supplement from 10% to 20% of the base amount. Eligibility as of April 2024 used the 2021 Census data. However, it will revert back to using the 2016 Census data meaning individuals who no longer qualified based on the 2021 Census data will go back to receiving the rural supplement. These increases will be included in future payments and will be retroactive for April and July. Check for updates through this web page or your CRA My Account.

The Canada Carbon Rebate (formerly known as the Climate action incentive payment (CAIP)) is a tax-free amount to help eligible individuals and families offset the cost of the federal pollution pricing. It consists of a basic amount and a supplement for residents of small and rural communities.
