The Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group Honours and Recognition (CJCR Gp H&R) Program is intended to recognize meritorious acts, deeds, achievements, and dedicated service by individuals and groups who are participating, serving, volunteering or employed in support of the Canadian Cadet Organizations (CCO) and the programs it encompasses inclusive of Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, Royal Canadian Army Cadets and Royal Canadian Air Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers (JCR).The CJCR Gp is committed to recognizing the significant contribution that cadets, JCR, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, Department of National Defence employees, Civilian Instructors, and volunteers make to Canadian society through:
excellence of their work;
exemplary behaviour; and
the positive results they achieve.
Recognition of achievement is essential as it highlights exemplary qualities that are key to the success of the CCO such as:
initiative;
integrity;
leadership;
teamwork;
dedication; and
perseverance.
It is important that acts, deeds, or achievements be recognized in a timely fashion and should occur within one year of the action. In exceptional circumstances, a nomination may be considered that is submitted outside of the one-year deadline. In the case of cadets, JCR and CAF members, the honour or recognition should be presented while they are still a participating, serving or employed member, if possible.
Prior to submitting a nomination, along with ensuring the individual meets the award criteria, it should be confirmed that the individual does not have any outstanding administrative or disciplinary action pending. This may include but is not limited to, remedial measures, general complaints regarding character, or a breach of Codes of Conduct. The home Regional Cadet Support Unit and corps/squadrons or the Canadian Army through the Directorate Canadian Rangers for JCR, will advise the chain of command of any adverse findings which may potentially prevent an individual’s nomination.
The National Cadet H&R presented by the Cadet Leagues or other organizations remain under the control of the awarding organization. These organizations are requested to inform the CJCR Gp HQ H&R Coordinator early in their nomination process or recognition proposal. The CJCR Gp may submit nominations to a Cadet League or other external organizations for consideration for an honour or recognition.
