Yukon Child Benefit

The Yukon Child Benefit (YCB) is a tax-free monthly payment to help low- and modest-income families with the costs of raising their children under age 18. Benefits from this program are combined with the federal Canada Child Tax Benefit (CCTB) into a single monthly payment.

Under the YCB, you may be entitled to receive a benefit of $300 per year ($25 per month) per child. The amount of the benefit is reduced if your family net income is more than $16,700.

You do not have to apply separately to receive payments under this program. We will use the information from the CCTB application to determine your eligibility for the program. You (and your spouse) should file your 1999 tax return(s) as soon as possible. The information you supply on your tax return (and, if applicable, your spouse's return) will determine how much you will receive beginning in July 2000.

The program is fully funded by the Yukon. For more information, call 1-800-387-1193.
