Application for a Search of Citizenship Records

This application is for persons requesting a search of citizenship records to verify citizenship and naturalization information.
The record letter cannot be used as proof of citizenship. For proof of citizenship, please use the Application for a Citizenship Certificate.
Online applications
Before you apply online, make sure you have:
- the instruction guide to fill out the form
- a scanner or digital camera
- a valid credit or debit card
You need an account to apply online. Use it to pay your fees and check your status.
Once you start your online application, you have 60 days to submit it.
Paper applications
You need:
- The instruction guide to prepare and submit your application

- Get help to download, save and open this form
- Read the instruction guide and download your application form
- Complete, sign and date your application form
- Pay the fees
- Submit your application
