Why was the policy changed?
CD 566-4 – Counts and Security Patrols was revised following a recommendation stemming from a Board of Investigation and recommendations from stakeholders.
What is new/changed?
In order to fulfill CSC’s previous commitment, CD 566-4 has been amended to include procedures for the use of a video camera when situational factors prevent the officers to conduct a count or security patrol, to be followed by correctional staff as required. The amendments were added to paragraph 33 of the CD.
How was it developed?
These policy changes were developed by the Security Branch in consultation with the Strategic Policy Division, the Office of the Correctional Investigator as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Accountability?
All CSC management and staff are responsible to ensure compliance.
Who will be affected by the policy?
All institutional managers and staff.
Expected cost?
