Instructions to maximise the use of this tool

This tool displays statistics on based on information processed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on the Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate or from individuals who claimed the DTC on their T1 personal income tax and benefit return. Click on the buttons at the top of the application to toggle between the sections displaying statistics for “Canada”, “Province or Territory”, or “Claimants and utilization”.

The “Canada” and “Province or Territory” sections also contain toggle buttons for “Individuals” and “Restrictions” statistics. The “Claimants and Utilization” section contain toggle buttons for “Claimants vs. Utilization”, and “Utilization” statistics.

Filters can be used to select the data by Province or Territory, year, and/or basic activity of daily living restriction.

Hovering over the donut chart or the bar charts will generate tooltips that contains the underlying numbers or statistics. Selecting a specific data point in the visual element will apply a filter across other charts where applicable. Holding SHIFT or CTRL while clicking on multiple data points will apply additional filters, if applicable. To remove these filters, click on a blank space in the chart.

The visual elements will not appearif some data is suppressed for confidentiality or unavailability reasons.

It is possible to access the data from all visual elements by right clicking on the elements and selecting “Show data point as table” or “Show as a table” or by accessing the DTC data tables (see data tables listed under “Data” below the application).

Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips

Keyboard shortcuts and screen reader tips are available by entering the visual and pressing CTRL + Enter.

While in the visual, pressing SHIFT + "?" will open the keyboard shortcuts.

When focus is on a visual, the data table can be displayed by pressing ALT + SHIFT + F11.
