Minister Lebouthillier welcomes favourable vote for a new collective agreement between the Canada Revenue Agency and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada
News Release
December 20, 2017 Ottawa, Ontario Canada Revenue Agency
The Government of Canada is committed to fair and responsible collective bargaining, and respectful collaboration with federal public servants. In collective bargaining, a true willingness of all parties involved to work together is in the best interest of all Canadians and employees.
Today, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced that the majority of the members of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) for the Audit, Financial and Scientific group (AFS) voted in favour of the tentative agreement reached between the CRA and the PIPSC-AFS on September 23, 2017. The PIPSC-AFS represents approximately 12,000 employees at the CRA.
As a result of the vote, the tentative agreement will become the new collective agreement for the Audit, Financial and Scientific group, once it is signed. As a separate employer, the CRA is required by law to seek approval of the agreement from the Governor in Council, as part of the established process. Following the Governor in Council’s approval, the CRA and PIPSC-AFS will meet to sign the collective agreement.
The collective agreement covers a four-year period starting on December 22, 2014, and will take effect on the date it is signed.
