Canada Revenue Agency consultations with northern residents
The CRA is committed to improving services to all Canadians in northern regions.
When CRA senior officials met face-to-face with small and medium businesses and accountants in Whitehorse, Yellowknife and Iqaluit, they heard feedback that wasn’t just about businesses. Participants shared the challenges they face in the north to meet tax obligations. Although these are not specifically business problems, the feedback was targeted and constructive.
Participants told the CRA they want us to:
- expand CRA outreach and partnerships in northern communities
- improve services for Canadians living in the north
- help taxpayers better understand how to claim the northern residents deductions (NORD)
With the Report on the Canada Revenue Agency’s consultations with northern residents the CRA is acting on this feedback and making improvements to our services in the northern regions from now through 2019.
