National Advisory Committee on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (NAC-STBBI): Workplan
On this page
Preamble
The National Advisory Committee on Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (NAC-STBBI) provides the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) with ongoing and timely advice for the development of public health guidance related to STBBI management, in support of PHAC's mandate to prevent and control infectious diseases in Canada.
Recommendations developed in collaboration with the NAC-STBBI inform PHAC's STBBI Guides for Health Professionals (the Guides). The Guides outline national recommendations for the screening and diagnosis of STBBI, and the treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI) of national public health importance.
The following workplan represents priority selections to be undertaken by the NAC-STBBI. It is acknowledged that not all of these topics will be addressed over the next three years (2024-2027). Topics that are not addressed will be carried forward to subsequent years.
The following triggers may drive the addition of items to the NAC-STBBI workplan:
- Internal inconsistency
- Public health emergency
- New safety signal detected
- Changes in disease epidemiology
- Publication of key trials or evidence
- New treatment options or screening technologies
- Changes in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) patterns
- Recommendation adopted by other reputable organizations
- New Canadian recommendations from PTs and public health organizations
