Science officer, PC3/ EC5 – casual appointment

Salary ranging from $97,479 to $115,998 (PC-03) or $98,299 to $113,141 (EC-05)

Isolated post allowance (Northern living allowance) ranging from $26,385 to $45,974 for those located in the North.

This position is bilingual BBB or English essential and is located in Cambridge Bay OR Ottawa, Ontario with possible travel to Cambridge Bay and other northern locations.

As a science officer you will be responsible for contributing to science policy and coordination support as part of a team of analysts supporting POLAR's Science and Technology directorate. You will contribute to the coordination and support of our science and engineering teams in the delivery of their POLAR science and technology mandate. In this role you may also be required to provide briefings and information products for the manager and director.

The job requirements

  • Experience working in a policy or program policy capacity
  • Experience in co-ordinating projects
  • Experience working with cabinet documents, briefing notes, decks and other information products
  • Experience contributing to horizontal coordination within federal government as well as with other governments, including Indigenous
  • Experience and familiarity with the federal science portfolio, science policy, or science project coordination
  • Experience working with Northern communities is an asset
