Members of the Defence community,

The COVID-19 pandemic will make this holiday season one like no other. We must practice social distancing, meaning that many of us will not be able to gather with our loved ones. For many members of the Defence community posted far from their families, this is a daily reality.

Let’s focus on everything this year has given us.

This year, our Canadian Armed Forces demonstrated once again their resilience and expertise. Members assisted on the front lines of the pandemic helping in Long Term Health Care Facilities and moving on in the New Year to coordinate the COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

To the military spouses, children, and parents, your continuous support of our members ensures that they can take on the important tasks they do.

To former members, your service to our country is what made it possible for us to enjoy the lives we live today. 

Thank you to the civilians, Staff of the Non-Public Funds, and all other personnel working diligently in the company of military members at home or abroad during this holiday season.

As your Ombudsman, I promise that my office stands ready to help you as a member of the Defence community, and your family during this holiday season and in the year to come.
