Applying for a passport cancellation reconsideration
If you have been advised that your passport has been cancelled, as a result of a decision by the Minister of Public Safety (Minister) under the Canadian Passport Order, you may apply in writing to the Passport Cancellation Reconsideration Office (PCRO) to have the cancellation reconsidered. However, you must apply within 30 days after the day on which you become aware that your passport was cancelled.
Once the application form has been received and reviewed, the PCRO will provide you with a summary of the reasons your passport was cancelled. You will then have the opportunity to submit information in support of your application for reconsideration.
The Minister, or his/her delegate, will consider any information you may submit, along with the information in support of maintaining the cancellation of your passport, and will decide whether to grant your request for reconsideration.
Completing the application for reconsideration
Complete the form Application to the Passport Cancellation Reconsideration Office under the Canadian Passport Order [03-403 E] (PDF, 644.17KB)
Print clearly and carefully so that all your information can be read and understood. Read all the instructions and attach certified true photocopies of two valid pieces of government-issued identification to support your identity (see details on page 2 of the form).
Appealing the reconsideration decision
If the Minister’s or his/her delegate’s decision is to maintain the cancellation, you may appeal that decision to a Federal Court judge as set out in the Prevention of Terrorist Travel Act within 30 days of receiving the reconsideration decision.
