Notice – New Ontario health cards
Ottawa, August 26, 2016 – The Government of Ontario no longer displays sex designation on health cards produced as of June 13, 2016.
The new Ontario health card that does not display sex designation is not valid on its own as identification (ID) in support of a passport application. It can be used in combination with one of the following documents:
- other valid ID displaying sex designation;
- the transaction record (receipt), also known as a temporary card, of the new Ontario health card or Ontario photo card.
Note: An expired Ontario health card is not valid ID and cannot be used in combination with the new Ontario health card that does not display sex designation.
