The severity weight for rotavirus in disability adjusted life years per case is calculated by multiplying the years lived with a disability by the years of life lost. The years lived with a disability is the sum of the outcome fraction multiplied by the duration and the severity weight for each health outcome contributing to morbidity. The years of life lost is calculated by subtracting the age at death from the life expectancy and then multiplying this result by the severity weight.
