Background
Fifteen substances in the Gas Oils and Kerosenes with Uses in Products Available to Consumers Group were initially included among 42 substances assessed as a part of the Draft Screening Assessment for Gas Oils and Kerosenes. Following the publication of that draft assessment, additional human health information was considered, resulting in the removal of these 15 substances from the original group of 42 substances. In addition, new information was received relating to the ecological portion of the assessment, which resulted in a change to the proposed ecological conclusion for these substances, from harmful to not harmful to the environment at levels of exposure considered in the assessment.
The current draft assessment focuses on these 15 gas oils and kerosenes and a similar substance, CAS RN 64771-72-8.
