Consultation on proposed amendments to regulations concerning cannabis: Streamlining of requirements

Health Canada invited you to comment on proposed amendments to the following regulations and orders concerning cannabis:
- Regulations Amending Certain Regulations Concerning Cannabis (Streamlining of Requirements)
- Order Amending Schedule 2 to the Cannabis Act
- Order Amending the Cannabis Tracking System Order (Cultivation Waste)
While maintaining public health and public safety objectives, the proposed amendments are meant to:
- reduce regulatory and administrative burden for regulated parties
- support diversity and competition in the legal cannabis market
Who was the focus of this consultation
We were seeking comments from various groups, including:
- current and potential licence holders
- provincially and territorially authorized distributors and retailers
- industry associations
- researchers or academic institutions
- First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations
- law enforcement
- provinces, territories and municipalities
Key issues for consultation
The proposed amendments target the following areas:
- licensing
- personnel and physical security measures
- production requirements
- packaging and labelling
- record-keeping and reporting
We will use the comments received to inform the final regulatory amendments.
