10.2.5 Provincial and territorial benefit programs
Some provinces and territories offer programs and benefits to seniors and retirees. For example:
- Saskatchewan has a Seniors' Drug Plan, in which seniors pay a reduced amount per prescription for approved drugs.
- The Ontario Drug Benefit program covers most of the cost of prescription drugs for people 65 years of age and older.
- In Quebec, the Home Adaptations for Seniors' Independence program provides financial assistance for low-income seniors to help them make minor adaptations to their homes or apartments.
- Manitoba's 55 PLUS program provides quarterly benefits to lower-income Manitobans who are 55 years of age or over.
