Thousands of facilities located across the country report to the NPRI each year. We make this data available to the public on this page.

The data can be used in different ways. For example:

• individuals can use it to track pollutants in their own neighbourhoods
• researchers can use it to monitor changes to air and water quality
• governments can use it to help set up environmental policies

NPRI data

We have packaged the data in different ways for different uses.  You can search the entire database, download subsets of data, or view the data on maps.

Preliminary 2023 data can be accessed using our NPRI data search tool or dashboard. You can use the descriptions below to choose which search option best fits your needs. For technical support to access the data, please email us at inrp-npri@ec.gc.ca.

Search NPRI data

• Use our National Pollutant Release Inventory data search tool for reviewed 1993 to 2022 data, and preliminary 2023 data. Search by pollutant, industry, province, or watershed to find the data that most affects you and your community. It includes predefined queries and advanced searches to view NPRI data in tables. Includes pollution prevention activities as well as links to other datasets for facilities that also report to the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) on radionuclides.
• Use our National Pollutant Release Inventory Dashboard for reviewed 2012 to 2022, and preliminary 2023 data. Search by pollutant, facility, location, sector, or substance, and view NPRI data in both visual and table formats. In addition to release data, it includes a summary of pollution prevention activities reported by facilities.
