Ground level ozone and other issues
The air issues associated with ground-level ozone are:
- Smog (ground-level ozone, along with particulate matter(PM), are the two primary components of smog)
- Acid Rain, (Nitrogen oxides(NOx), one of the two pollutants primarily responsible for acid rain, is also a precursor pollutant to ground-level ozone formation)
- HAPs (ozone has been determined to be toxic under CEPA 1999; in addition numerous individual volatile organic compounds(VOCs), some of which contribute to ozone formation, have been determined to be CEPA 1999 toxic)
