- The authority for granting incentive credit upon enrolment into the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is maintained by the Director General Compensation and Benefits (DGCB) through the Military Occupation List. The Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) has engaged with DGCB to ensure recognition of experience in the Cadet Program through incentive credits.
- As of the 2023 update to the Military Occupation List, current and former cadets who are enrolling in the CAF as a Regular Force or Primary Reserve Non-Commissioned Member (NCM), may be granted 180 days incentive credit toward their Pay Increment if they have completed three years of cadet training, within the last five years. This incentive credit may only to be used one time.
- As experience in the Cadet Program is now included in the Military Occupation List, effective immediately, the reference is cancelled.
- CJCR Gp encourages all current and former cadets who are enrolling in the CAF as an NCM to disclose their cadet experience and discuss this incentive credit with their Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre. Any questions concerning incentive credits can be directed to your Regional Cadet Support Unit J1.
