There are three key elements in achieving optimal performance and well-being:
Prepare
Preparing the mind is all about knowledge and training. It is designed to ensure individuals understand the potential stressors they might face and the impact that stress has on the brain. As well, preparation is also about knowing and practicing the techniques to mitigate this impact ahead of time to ensure effective performance.
Perform
Performance is about using the specific skills that can be employed to manage the various stressors. The key performance skills delivered as part of the R2MR program include goal setting, visualization, self-talk, arousal control, and attention control.
Recover
Recovery is about how one is able to restore physical and mental energy. Training is geared towards employing specific recovery strategies and also recognizing signs of under-recovery. Recovery makes all the difference in how an individual responds to stress and is able to regroup in order to re-engage in the cycle again for the next performance situation.
