DM/CDS Message: Join us in strengthening our defence against fraud
November 29, 2024 - Defence Stories
As a Defence Team, we are bound by the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Service and the CAF Ethos – Trusted to Serve, which both strongly support our zero-tolerance policy for fraud through our commitment to ethical integrity and stewardship.
To strengthen our defence against fraud, we invite all Defence Team members to complete a short, anonymous Fraud Risk Management questionnaire.
You are the first line of defence against fraud in our organization. Completing this questionnaire will offer insight to the Defence Team Fraud Risk Management Program (accessible only on the National Defence network) on how aware, confident, and prepared we are to prevent and report suspected fraud at any office, base, or wing.
The second line of defence against fraud is led by Assistant Deputy Minister (Review Services). They are implementing the new Fraud Risk Management framework (accessible only on the National Defence network) which includes:
- Targeted Fraud Risk Assessments (PDF, 178KB) (accessible only on the National Defence network) to understand our strengths and weaknesses;
- Interactive Fraud Awareness Workshops (accessible only on the National Defence network) delivered in-person or virtually;
- Addition of fraud awareness into the existing Introduction to Defence Ethics course; and
- Ongoing development of a brand-new “Fraud Awareness Training” course on the Defence Learning Network (DLN).
Your open and honest views about fraud awareness help make us a stronger organization. We encourage you to continue having conversations on how we can better uphold and safeguard our values and ethics.
