Government of Canada announces date of Fall Economic Statement 2022

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, will present the Fall Economic Statement 2022 in the House of Commons on November 3, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m. ET.

The statement will provide information on the state of the Canadian economy within a challenging global environment and outline the government’s plan to continue building an economy that works for everyone.

Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery accredited media are invited to participate in an embargoed reading and technical briefing on Parliament Hill ahead of the release of the Fall Economic Statement.

Embargo procedure

All media representatives and experts will be required to accept the terms of an undertaking with respect to the embargo in order to take part in the secure reading. The embargo will be lifted by a Department of Finance official once the Deputy Prime Minister begins speaking in the House of Commons at approximately 4:00 p.m. ET.

The embargo agreement will be shared electronically with all those who have registered for the embargoed reading with the Department of Finance. Additional details on this process will be outlined in the email sent to Press Gallery members. 

The Department of Finance, after consultation with the Parliamentary Press Gallery Executive, may refuse access to any future economic update or Budget embargoed briefings, or other Department of Finance embargoed releases, to any person and/or their entire organization if they breach the terms of the embargo agreement.
