Consultations on Clerk’s Call to Action and Public Service Employee Survey results

As you know, evolving our organizational culture is incredibly important to me. By tackling racism and advancing reconciliation, accessibility, equity and inclusion, we will build a better CSC for our employees and those in our care and custody.

I wanted to update you on the encouraging steps we are taking, including the important consultations that took place at the end of 2023 and what comes next.

The Human Resource Management Sector’s Employment Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (HRM EEDI) team in partnership with the Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team, hosted a series of six consultation sessions with employment equity and equity-deserving employees from across Canada to gather input on the Clerk of the Privy Council’s Call to Action on items for immediate implementation, and to discuss the 2022 to 2023 Public Service Employee Survey Results.

I would like to express my thanks to the 170 employees from all levels and functions of the organization who actively participated in these sessions. I understand that these important discussions were challenging at times. I am grateful to all those who shared their valuable feedback and perspectives with us so openly and honestly.

If you were unable to attend these conversations, but wish to provide comments, please reach out to the HRM EEDI team for a feedback package.

As for the next steps, the HRM EEDI team is:

  1. Reviewing and sharing the input gathered on the Call to Action Implementation Strategy – 6 items for immediate implementation with the relevant sectors,
  2. Sharing the PSES and Call to Action feedback with regional and sector partners; and,
  3. Planning to convene a working group as required early spring to develop the remaining Call to Action measurable deliverables.

These important discussions are only the beginning of our collaborative approach to meeting the Call to Action’s objectives.
