Canada's Reserve Force
Reservists are part-time members of the CAF located across Canada in your community. They balance civilian careers or education with military service. In times of need, reservists can serve with the military full-time for a defined period. Readiness to deploy is maintained through a series of courses and training activities. Reserve service is about being ready to serve and defend Canada and Canadian interests at home and abroad.
The value of Reserve Force service
The value of enduring Reserve service goes beyond military service to Canada. Reserve service develops resilience, loyalty, dedication, leadership and focus that make reservists stand out in their civilian workplace. In addition to supporting the CAF and national security, employers can access the skills and experience, gained through Reserve service. When employers support Reserve service, it benefits the reservist, the employer, and the CAF, and helps to retain a valued employee.
The support of employers for Canada’s Reserve Force is critical to maintaining CAF operational capability. Reservists bring their knowledge, training, and experience from the military to their civilian workplace and in turn, they also contribute their workplace expertise when serving in the military. This partnership benefits both the employer and the CAF.

How to join With Glowing Hearts
To register with the program, your organization must have a military leave policy to demonstrate your commitment to the retention and readiness of Reserve Force members.
