Bianca Hayes
Bianca Hayes became the fastest woman to cycle across Canada as part of her efforts to raise funds for and draw attention to ovarian cancer. Bianca grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC) with her older sister, Katrina, who died of ovarian cancer at 32 years old.
After completing the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2018, in 2019 Bianca set out to ride from Vancouver to San Francisco over the course of 9 days and raised over $20,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation.
This ride served as a jumping-off point for Bianca. In 2020 she set her sights on becoming the fastest woman to cycle across Canada, a journey that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Overcoming mechanical failures and days without sleep, Bianca finished her journey across the country and raised over $40,000 for ovarian cancer research.
Bianca's long-term goal is to improve the outcomes for women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, the fifth most common cancer for women and the most serious women’s cancer.
