Choose women of impact
What does it mean to make an impact? As a group, determine who will be featured in your local Women of Impact gallery, with the goal of creating a gallery that represents your entire community.
Selection criteria
The women you select can be living or deceased; they can be well-known figures or unsung heroes working quietly behind the scenes. You may consider honouring women who have:
- dedicated a lifetime towards a particular social cause
- achieved a level of excellence in their field
- made their mark in a non-traditional sector
- distinguished themselves on the national/international stage
For those who are still living, it is important to reach out to the women featured in your gallery to request their permission. People who are not public figures may not be comfortable sharing their stories with a wide audience

Diversity and inclusion
One way to create a dynamic and engaging gallery is to include women with wide-ranging accomplishments in different fields. Make your primary goal to showcase interesting stories, capture a variety of experiences, and represent the many areas in which women have shaped our communities and our country. Similarly, choosing women from diverse backgrounds – women of different ages, cultures and ethnicities – is an important way to promote inclusion and celebrate the diversity of your community and Canada as a whole.
