Title or working title of the regulatory initiative
Regulations amending the Public Service Superannuation Regulations (PSSR) (Supplementary Death Benefit: Beneficiary Designation Form)
Description of the objective
Issue
- The regulations do not account for the fact that pension administration has been centralized – regulations still require that the Supplementary Death Benefit designation form be sent to the employing department.
- The regulations do not allow for special cases (e.g. where form is filled out but not submitted before member’s death for reasons out of their control).
Description of the regulation
Regulatory amendments will seek to address these issues.
