Below are the three projects funded under the Green Shipping Corridor Program’s Clean Ports stream and based in Quebec.

Port of Quebec Dock Electrification Project

The project is divided into two main components: Shore- side electrification of cruise ships and dockside electrification of cargo ships in collaboration with the shipowner FEDNAV. These components will support cruise and cargo ships as they travel along the St. Lawrence region, which will help establish a green shipping corridor in the St. Lawrence region.

Port of Montreal (Viterra)   Quebec

Shore Power System at the Port of Montreal Viterra Terminal

The project involves developing a shore power system for ships operating at the Viterra Terminal in Montreal, which receives CSL vessels from the Great Lakes, including the Port of Thunder Bay, during the grain season. The ships will be able to leverage the shore power system while docked, contributing to the creation of a green shipping corridor within these regions.

Shore Power System at the Port of Montreal Bickerdike Terminal

The project involves developing a shore power system for ships operating at Bickerdike terminal, which receives Oceanex vessels that

shuttle between Montreal and St. John’s. Quayside activities mainly involve loading and unloading containers, as well as maintenance activities when required by the ships. Ships passing through the port will be able to use the shore power system while docked, which will contribute to the establishment of a green shipping corridor between Montreal and St. John’s and Labrador.
