Minister Murray Statement on the 2021 Spring Reports of the Auditor General of Canada

The Honourable Joyce Murray, Minister of Digital Government, today issued the following statement on the report Procuring Complex Information Technology Solutions tabled by the Auditor General:
“We thank the Auditor General for her work. The recommendations put forward will help us deliver on our plan to modernize the Government of Canada’s IT systems and transform how we serve Canadians.
“The Government of Canada is committed to getting the most secure and reliable information technology products and services at the best price for Canadians.
“Federal organizations have made good progress towards updating procurement practices and adopting agile procurement. We are dedicated to continual improvement in this area.
“Based on the Auditor General’s findings, the Government of Canada will:
- develop more comprehensive guidance and training for employees to improve understanding of agile procurement and how to work openly and collaboratively.
- implement more effective processes to ensure that stakeholder organizations are properly consulted on complex IT procurements”.
- openly engage with vendors and other organizations to hear their concerns and improve our information management practices to ensure more fairness and transparency.
