- Conduct discreet physical surveillance (in a vehicle and on foot);
- Research and analyze information pertaining to surveillance;
- Draft reports and detail information gathered;
- Carry out several tasks simultaneously.
Education
- University degree or College diploma and (2) two years of experience * or
- High school diploma and (4) four years of experience *
NB. The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.
Experience
- Experience* working in a team environment.
- Six (6) year of experience in driving motor vehicles in various driving conditions (city, rural, weather events).
Candidates must also possess the following requirements:
- A valid and permanent Canadian driver's license.
- Permanent Canadian driver’s license is defined as a G Class (Ontario) or minimum of a Class 5 (remainder of Canada). G1, G2, Class 5-GDL, Class 7, Class 6 and Learner’s Permit will not be accepted.

- Probation: Surveillance Officers are subject to a two (2) year probationary period.
- Possess and maintain a valid and permanent Canadian driver's license for the duration of their employment in that position.
- Provide a copy of your driver’s abstract for the last three (3) years.
- To obtain indeterminate status, Surveillance Officers must successfully complete Surveillance Officer Training Course (SOTC).
Training: Candidates must successfully complete the 16-week Surveillance Officer Training Course (SOTC) in Ottawa prior to working as a Surveillance Officer. This is a pass/fail course and candidates have only one opportunity to participate in the training. This is an intensive training program. All temporary relocation expenses are covered.
Allowance: Surveillance Officer may be eligible to the Surveillant Allowance for this position at a rate of 12% of the employee’s substantive annual salary ($86,718 -$105,478). Employees participating in the Surveillance Officer Training Course (SOTC) are not eligible to receive the Surveillant Allowance until they have successfully completed the training and are certified as Surveillance Officers.

Assessment Process:
There will be four (4) assessments for this process. If unsuccessful for any of these assessments, we will not be pursuing with the recruitment. Once all evaluations are completed with success, a competency-based interview will be used to assess candidates’ experience, knowledge, and competencies.
