1. What is my access code?
Your access code is a four-digit number. If you have misplaced your access code, go to Get a GST/HST access code.
If you have never received an access code, call us at 1-800-959-5525 and we will give you one. If you are calling from outside Canada and the United States, call us collect at 613-940-8497.
If you access GST/HST NETFILE through the "File a return" link in My Business Account, you will not need to enter your access code when filing your return.
2. Will my access code be the same for each filing period?
Yes.
3. Can I change my access code?
As a business owner, you can change your GST/HST access code to a number of your choice by using GST/HST Access Code Online.
A GST/HST access code can also be created or changed over the telephone by the business owner or an authorized reprensetative (with level 2 authorization or higher).
4. Are there any helpful hints on how to use the service?
Completing your GST/HST return or rebate online is as straightforward as completing a paper form. Here are some things to know:
- review the checklist of items on the Ready to file page before you begin;
- enter all amounts in Canadian funds;
- if you end your filing session before confirming that you want to file your return/rebate, the information you entered will not be saved; and
- after you successfully submit your information, you will get a confirmation number that you should print and keep with your records.
5. Can I electronically adjust a return or rebate that I've already filed?
GST/HST returns and public service bodies' (PSB) rebates can be adjusted electronically using My Business Account (some restrictions apply). If you do not already have a user ID and password, you can request one at My Business Account.
