Canada Research Coordinating Committee discusses Canada’s collective research response to the COVID-19 pandemic
In November, the Canadian Science Policy Centre (CSPC) invited members of the Canada Research Coordinating Committee (CRCC) to the CSPC 2021 virtual conference for an in-depth panel discussion about Canada’s collective response to COVID-19.
Building on the 2020 plenary session, the panel discussed the individual and collective responses of CRCC member organizations to address the impacts of the pandemic and mitigate the challenges posed to the research community.
Alejandro Adem, 2021 CRCC chair and president of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, was joined by the following CRCC members:
- Ted Hewitt—CRCC vice-chair and President, Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
- Simon Kennedy—Deputy Minister, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
- Lakshmi Krishnan—acting Vice-President—Life Sciences, National Research Council
- Stephen Lucas—Deputy Minister, Health Canada
- Roseann O’Reilly Runte—President and CEO, Canada Foundation for Innovation
- Sarah Viehbeck—Associate Vice-President Research—Evidence Integration, Canadian Institutes of Health Research
