Laboratory summary

Measles

In 2018, 19 cases of measles have been genotyped and the genotypes were B3 (n=5) and D8 (n=14) (Figure 3).

Measles genotype D8 was detected in the case imported from Brazil and reported by the province of British Columbia. The strain was identical to the WHO named strain MVi/Hulu Langat.MYS/26.11 (GenBank accession number JX486001). Measles genotype D8 has been recently reported from a number of South American countries.
