Part III. Discussions on personal accountability in upholding public service values and ethics

What activities or actions has your organization undertaken to foster a conversation at all levels on personal accountability to uphold our public service values and ethics?
- Dedicated discussions at executive and management committee meetings
- All-staff engagements (e.g., town halls)

We have conducted several focus group discussions with the different employee categories, as well as one all-staff engagement. We plan on hosting regular all-staff engagements.

- Incorporated in employees’ professional development and mandatory learning plans.

Regularly scheduled all-staff engagements will supplement the mandatory inclusion of Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) courses on values and ethics in all employees’ learning plans.

Conflicts of interest, non-partisanship.

How have you adjusted your learning activities to address recurring themes (e.g., adjusted training plans, developed specific case studies, invited expert speakers to focus on emerging themes)?
The review of our code of conduct will address these issues and will include a provision for regular review to ensure that it stays current and relevant.

Are there any actions or learning activities that have been particularly successful in fostering conversations within your organization (e.g., new tools, creative approaches that have resonated well with employees and managers, meeting with small groups, equipping managers to lead conversations, equipping values and ethics office/practitioners)?
Meetings with small groups based on category of employee were helpful, as was the “What we heard document” that was prepared based on those discussions.
