Éric Dewailly Memorial Award
Éric Dewailly (1957-2014) during his career was a Professor of Environmental Health at the faculty of Medicine of Laval University, Director of the Public Health Research Unit of the Laval University Medical Centre, and a scientific director of the WHO Collaborative Center in Environmental Health. Dr. Dewailly was fascinated with the Canadian Arctic and its people - his research focused mainly on the contamination of the marine food chain, the exposure of northerners to environmental chemicals and marine toxins, and health outcomes related to contaminants in traditional foods. Dr. Dewailly died in a rockslide on the island of Réunion. To honour his invaluable contribution to Arctic research, an award has been set up in his name.
