The Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Member of Parliament for Regina—Wascana will take part in a Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada plaque unveiling ceremony to commemorate the national historic significance of Thomas Clement “Tommy” Douglas (1904-1986).
A skilled politician and advocate for social justice, Tommy Douglas is an icon closely associated with the implementation of the federal cost-sharing program to facilitate universal, Canada-wide public health care.
Minister Goodale will make the announcement on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Catherine McKenna.
