Infrastructure investments, like those announced today, are vital to creating jobs for the middle class and sustained economic growth. Additionally, Parks Canada’s ‎destinations form important cornerstones for the tourism industry that is such an important part of our economy and employs so many across the country.

The Government of Canada is investing more than $29 million into La Mauricie National Park and the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site’s infrastructure. The announcement was made today by the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Member of Parliament for Saint-Maurice—Champlain and Minister of International Trade, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Minister responsible for Parks Canada.

The funding will support infrastructure projects, namely for the roadway rehabilitation work on the Parkway into La Mauricie National Park and the replacement of the HVAC system and the fixing of significant seepage in both visitor buildings at the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site.

Investments in visitor infrastructure – such as trails, visitor centres and campgrounds, as well as highways, parkways and bridges – will ensure the quality and reliability of visitor facilities and continue to allow Canadians to connect with nature. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation, the Government of Canada is helping create opportunities for Canadians across Canada to participate in a year-long celebration and help shape the best that Canada can be in the future.
