OTTAWA, July 19, 2015 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada's Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of National Defence made the following statements today regarding the conclusion of the assistance of Canadian Armed Forces members in fighting Saskatchewan's wildfires. The decision to redeploy troops was made following consultation between the Province of Saskatchewan, Public Safety Canada and the Canadian Armed Forces.
“I am very proud of our brave men and women in uniform who helped so many people in Saskatchewan during this difficult time. Their efforts are an excellent example of the continued perseverance, adaptability and expertise of our Canadian Armed Forces. Our troops are always ready to respond, and will answer the call if their assistance is required again.”
