LEVIS, QUEBEC – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, today announced an $8.7-million investment to improve defence infrastructure in the Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches regions, in support of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Seven defence facilities in the region will receive funding for important repairs and upgrades. The facilities which will benefit from these infrastructure investments over the next two years, are:
Quebec City: The Pointe-à-Carcy Naval Reserve complex, the Voltigeurs de Québec military complex, the Saint-Malo Armoury and the Connaught Barracks will receive various repairs, including upgraded security barriers, new roofs and other maintenance. Repairs at these locations total $4.84 million.
Lévis: Renovations will take place at the downtown Armoury – a heritage stone building. Extensive work, at a cost of $1.2 million, includes masonry work on the exterior walls and foundation repairs.
Beauport: The local armoury requires a new roof and other general maintenance, at a cost of $930,000.
Montmagny: A $1.69-million project, at the centrally located armoury, includes brickwork and stonework.
