Government of Canada invests in commemorative activities

July 22, 2015 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada is providing funding of $14,600 to the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre for its Mae Wilson Theatre’s 100^th Anniversary project. Support is being provided through the Community Anniversaries component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.

Ray Boughen, Member of Parliament (Palliser), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

The Moose Jaw Cultural Centre will celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the Mae Wilson Theatre in 2016. The theatre first opened its doors as the Allen Theatre in 1916.
Planned activities will take place throughout the year and include a local performing artist concert series and a performing "Artists in Action Day" to coincide with Culture Days.
During the "Artists in Action Day", visitors will be invited behind the scenes and interact with local performing artists and artisans to experience what it is like to perform on stage.
