OTTAWA, March 6, 2015 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement on the Zehaf-Bibeau video released today by the RCMP.
“Terrorist groups have threatened attacks in Canada for a long time, including prior to our mission against ISIL.
“This video is a stark reminder of how Canadians must remain vigilant against the real threat of terrorism at home and abroad.
“The first duty of any government is to keep its citizens safe. That is why we introduced the Anti-terrorism Act, 2015 – to ensure police and our national security agencies have the tools they need to keep Canadians safe.”
