Web-based Technology helps charities show the impact of their work to donors
February 24, 2015 – Halifax, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Fundmetric Incorporated (Fundmetric) is aiming to expand its horizons by helping charities to better show the impact of their work to donors. They believe that more funds result from better understanding.
Fundmetric began in 2013 as the inspiration of two entrepreneurs who share a common goal − to help not-for-profits better target their fundraising. Pooling their expertise, the result is a new Nova Scotian start-up technology company focused on assisting charities to better identify and connect with their donors and stakeholders.
Unlike other donor solutions, Fundmetric is a web-based solution that uses big data and predictive modeling to identify and create a personalized “donor journey.” Fundmetric is essentially a software as a service (SaaS) tool that uses predictive and analytic algorithms to allow not-for-profits to both manage and increase donations.
Fundmetric currently has subscribers across Canada. The Government of Canada is providing a $75,000 repayable contribution to the company through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP).
With this support, Fundmetric plans to further commercialize its technology to help not-for-profits implement more effective fundraising.
Quick Facts:
• In September 2014, Fundmetric was one of four companies selected to be part of the Google for Entrepreneurs program at the Google Innovation Space at Communitech in Waterloo, Ontario.
• There are over 85,000 registered charities in Canada. (Canada Revenue Agency)
• According to Statistics Canada, not-for-profit donations totalled $8.3 billion in 2010.
Quotes:
“Innovation is critical to the long-term success of any organization. That is why I am proud that our Government has supported this cutting edge Atlantic Canadian company as it works with charitable organizations – who do so much to improve the lives of those less fortunate – to more effectively connect them with potential donors.”
- The Honourable Peter MacKay, Regional Minister for Nova Scotia, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency)
“Fundmetric continues to gain traction across Canada in part due to the support we receive from ACOA and the contagious "can-do" start-up community the Agency helps foster. This support directly impacts the fundraising product we can provide for our not-for-profit clients, and in turn the support they can provide to individuals and communities in need.”
