January 21, 2015 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, made the following statement today on the death of RCMP Constable David Wynn, who was shot while on duty in St. Albert, Alberta, on Friday, January 16:
“On behalf of all Canadians, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of David Wynn. Constable Wynn made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the community of St. Albert, Alberta. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his loved ones during this very difficult time.
The men and women of Canada's police forces put themselves in harm's way each and every day. We honour their bravery and mourn with them on this tragic day.
