Member of Parliament Bob Zimmer announces funding for commemorative projects

Bob Zimmer, Member of Parliament for Prince George–Peace River, today announced Government of Canada support for the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43 (Prince George), for their annual commemorative and educational activities in North Central British Columbia. MP Zimmer made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 (Prince George) will organize and participate in a variety of local events and activities in the lead up to Remembrance Day. From November 3-10, Legion members will visit local high school history classes to share their experiences with students and discuss the importance of remembrance. On November 8, a candlelight vigil will take place in Prince George where cadets will place lit candles on the graves of Veterans, where they will remain lit until Remembrance Day. Finally, on November 9, Veterans will take part in a church parade at the Prince George Cemetery followed by A Day of Remembrance activities at the Legion Branch. Up to 3,500 people are expected to take part in these events, including 600 Veterans and 2,500 youth.
