The Honourable Steven Blaney, Canada’s Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Member of Parliament for Lévis - Bellechasse and les Etchemins today joined local Québec veterans, community members, and youth at a Remembrance Day ceremony honouring the courageous veterans of Canada.
Today’s ceremony builds upon the important milestones marked by the Government of Canada this year, including the centenary of the beginning of the First World War, the 75th anniversary of Canada’s engagement in the Second World War, and the end of Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan. Between now and 2020, the Government of Canada will commemorate the milestone anniversaries of Canada’s many accomplishments and sacrifices during the two World Wars.
