Member of Parliament Stephen Woodworth announces funding for unveiling ceremony in Kitchener

November 6, 2014 – Kitchener, ON – Veterans Affairs Canada

Stephen Woodworth, Member of Parliament for Kitchener Centre, today announced Government of Canada support for a ceremony to unveil a First World War memorial in Kitchener. MP Woodworth made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of Veterans Affairs.

The Church of St. John the Evangelist will unveil a memorial recognizing members of the church who served in the First World War on November 9. Veterans and youth will participate and the ceremony will include a special remembrance service. A booklet containing information on parish members commemorated by the memorial will also be distributed.

Quick Facts

The Church of St. John the Evangelist is receiving $1,700, through Veterans Affairs Canada’s Community Engagement Partnership Fund, for a ceremony to unveil the St. John’s First World War Memorial.
Since 2006, the Government of Canada has approved more than $13 million through the Community Engagement Partnership Fund for projects that recognize Veterans and those who died in service.
