September 14, 2014 – Regina, Saskatchewan – Public Safety Canada
Roxanne James, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today attended the RCMP National Memorial Service at “Depot” Division in Regina, Saskatchewan. Ms. James was joined by Saskatchewan Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson and other dignitaries in laying wreaths at the RCMP Cenotaph.
The RCMP National Memorial Service is an annual event to honour RCMP members who died in the line of duty since the first fallen member in 1876. This year the names of the three officers tragically killed in the June shootings in Moncton were added to the Memorial Wall: Constable Fabrice Georges Gevaudan, Constable Douglas James Larche and Constable Dave Joseph Ross. The names of all 234 fallen officers on the Honour Roll were read.
