The Honourable Laurie Hawn participates in launch of new national tribute for Veterans

The Honourable Laurie Hawn, Member of Parliament for Edmonton Centre, today hosted a ceremony in Edmonton honouring Canadian Veterans of the Second World War among their friends, family, and members of the Canadian Veteran community, on the 75th anniversary of Canada's entry into the conflict. MP Hawn also helped launch a new national tribute to the extraordinary role Canadians played in the Allied victory. Beginning today, all living Canadian Veterans of the Second World War are eligible to receive a limited-edition commemorative lapel pin and a personalized certificate of recognition.
MP Hawn was at the Brigadier James Curry Jefferson Armoury at Canadian Armed Forces Base Edmonton, to present the first Alberta Veterans with their pins and certificates. The recipients included:

- Alice O'Sullivan
- Herbert Plowman
- Arthur Underwood
- Louis Warring
- Maurice White
Additional presentations were made to Canadian Veterans at ceremonies across Canada today, including one in Ottawa, presided over by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, and another in Vancouver with Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino.
