Montreal – July 08, 2014 - The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement after concluding a visit to the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre today.
“I am thankful for the important work done by the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre, and for allowing me an opportunity to remember the plight of countless Holocaust victims and survivors. The visit provided me with an opportunity to reflect on the many atrocities committed during this dark moment in human history, and contemplate the tremendous hatred, intolerance and violence which perpetuated the persecution of the Jewish people.
I continue to be inspired by the resilience of the Jewish people and am comforted by the belief that humanity can only be made richer through its pluralistic societies. I am proud that Canada is a country of peace and security. Our Government remains steadfast in its commitment to fight anti-Semitism.”
